This style of bilum is widely known as a highlands bilum and is commonly found in the Highlands regions of Papua New Guinea, although popular throughout PNG.
This type of bilum has developed more in PNG as imported, brightly coloured wools and acrylics have become more readily available. This type of bilum comes in a huge range of popular designs each with their own name and meaning. These bilums are super expandable and the creativity of the women weavers mean each bilum is completely unique and one-of-a-kind. The weave in a highlands bilum is tight, so smaller objects can easily be carried.
The approximate dimensions of this bilum are: 54cm wide by 62cm high including strap.
